Lookout Lodge offers a unique Black Lake experience, a tucked-away waterfront cabin perched on a cliff directly above the lake. Although part of Back Bay Campground, the cabin is set apart from the main activity of the campground. Tent and RV camping areas are nearby, but because of the cabin's location and surroundings, they are not visible from the cabin and you generally won't hear campground activity. The result is a cabin that feels surprisingly private and peaceful while still giving you access to everything Back Bay Campground has to offer. With 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, and sleeping space for up to 8 guests, Lookout Lodge is a great choice for families, couples traveling together, fishing and boating trips, or friends looking for a quieter Black Lake getaway. Inside Lookout Lodge Enter into the central hallway, where the full bathroom with a walk-in shower is located immediately to the right. All three bedrooms are located off the hallway: • Bedroom 1: Twin bunk bed • Bedroom 2: Queen bed • Bedroom 3: Queen bed Continue through the cabin to the kitchen, which includes a dedicated coffee bar. A convenient half bathroom is located nearby. A step down leads to the main gathering spaces. The dining area seats six, while the living room offers plenty of space to relax together and includes a queen-size sleeper sofa for additional sleeping space. Glass doors open onto the private deck overlooking Black Lake. A Private-Feeling Waterfront Setting Lookout Lodge sits directly on the waterfront, elevated on a cliff above Black Lake. Its setting provides beautiful elevated views of the water while creating a surprising sense of separation from the nearby camping areas. Outside, you'll have your own driveway, charcoal grill, private fire pit, Adirondack chairs and waterfront deck with table and chairs. Start your morning with coffee overlooking Black Lake, spend the day boating or fishing, and come back to your own quiet corner of the campground in the evening. Private Dock & Lake Access Lookout Lodge has its own private dock located directly below the cabin at the bottom of the cliff. Guests can keep a boat at the dock during their stay, fish, or use the dock to access Black Lake by kayak or paddle board. Because of the cabin's elevated cliffside location, reaching the dock requires descending approximately 60 stairs and climbing them again to return to the cabin. Please consider the stairs carefully before booking, particularly if anyone in your group has mobility limitations or difficulty climbing stairs. Campground Amenities About a 10-Minute Walk Away When you're ready for more activity, the main Back Bay Campground amenities are approximately a 10-minute walk from Lookout Lodge. Enjoy our heated swimming pool, brand-new playground, 24/7 arcade and game room, walking trails, camp store, and other seasonal amenities. We also offer 24/7 vending for snacks and drinks, plus 24/7 bait and tackle vending, especially convenient for early-morning and late-night fishing trips. Pontoon boats, fishing boats, kayaks, and paddleboards are available to rent, subject to availability, season, and weather.
